Frequently asked questions.
Q:My water looks great, why do I need it tested? GH. Cowra.
A:It may look good, but the levels of chlorine, pH, salt and sunscreen may not be at optimum levels, and if this is the case then you could be headed for a very quick reversal - from clean to GREEN! in a matter of days.
Besides, the test is free.
Q:There are so many automatic pool cleaners on the market, which is the best? KS. Young
A:There is no such thing as the best pool cleaner. All auto cleaners do the job in different ways. Some work better than others, and in most cases their better performance is not related to price!
The overall best cleaner (not in all pool types) we have seen sells for less than $450!! We have sold 87 of these cleaners in the last two seasons and have had no trouble at all with them.
Talk to your local pool person and explain to them exactly how your pool is set up; eg: what is the pool made of. What size pump and filter type do you have.
Don't buy online, if the cleaner does not work correctly you have next to no comeback. None of the manufacturers give any guarantee that their cleaner will work well in all pools, and I don't blame them. You are buying blind when you use online traders.
Q: My pool is green and my neighbour said all I had to do was throw some acid in it. Will this work? PL. Cowra.
A: This is a common belief. Pool acid (hydrochloric acid) serves only one function in swimming pool water; it lowers pH if the pH has risen higher than 7.6. It should only be used in this instance. Pool acid has absolutely no affect on algae and large amounts (over 2 litres) can create some very nasty side effects in your pool.
Pool acid should only be used after an accurate test for pH.
